Sean “Diddy” Combs will receive the prestigious Global Icon Award at the 2023 Video Music Awards (VMAs), airing live from New Jersey’s Prudential Center on Tuesday, September 12th at 8 pm ET/PT.
Diddy will be awarded the Global Icon Award ‘for his unparalleled career and continued influence that has achieved unrivaled global success in music and beyond’. Combs’ 30-year career includes two No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 and five No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100.
In addition to receiving the Global Icon Award, Diddy will also return to the stage for his first performance at the VMAs since 2005. He is also nominated this year for four other awards, for his work on “Creepin” (Remix) and “Gotta Move On”, as well as Best Rap and Best R&B.
The nominations for the 2023 VMA’s are lead by Taylor Swift with 11, followed by Sza with eight, Blackpink, Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo with six, Kim Petras and Sam Smith with five each, Beyoncé, Diddy, Drake, Ice Spice, Karol G, Metro Boomin, Shakira and Tomorrow X Together with four apiece.
