Killer Mike is back with his brand new album titled “Songs for Sinners & Saints,”  his seventh studio effort and the follow-up to last year’s self titled project “Michael“.

The project, billed to ‘Killer Mike & the Mighty Midnight Revival’, is intended as an epilogue to the “Michael” era. The Mighty Midnight Revival is the gospel group that Mike brought on his Down By Law  which earned him three Grammy wins including best rap album for “Michael” as well as best rap performance and best rap song for “Scientists & Engineers” featuring André 3000, Future and Eryn Allen Kane.

Killer Mike said in a statement: “I had a year to live with ‘Michael,’ and I realized I had more I wanted to do with this sound before moving on. When I was growing up an important part of church service was people having the opportunity to stand up and give public testimony on their trials, tribulations, and triumphs,” he wrote earlier this week. “After the celebratory atmosphere that followed MICHAEL I was reminded that tribulations never cease, but God is always with me and this is a testimonial of my tumultuous times, my trials, and my continued triumph in spite of doubt, outright hate, and fear.  Not only was I not done with the sound and feel of ‘Michael,’ I realized I might not be done with some of the songs from it as well. ‘Slummer’ & ‘Something for Junkies’ happened in the same Universe. I always looked at both songs as one long play of sorts so this was a chance to try that out. These are songs that deserved another approach and now I’m torn on which version I like better.”

The 10-track “Songs for Sinners & Saints” features guest appearances from Offset, Blxst, Anthony Hamilton, Project Pat and more, and features a medley of two “Michael” songs — “Slummer” and “Something for Junkies” — reworked into one track.  It also include previously released “Humble Me” which was released in June.

Mike celebrated the release with an official Sinners & Saints Live Stream from the last show of his ongoing residency at Blue Note Jazz Club in NYC on July 31 with a special guest appearance by EL-P.
